Nonprofit Executive Chin Hired as Interim Director at the Pike Place Market Foundation | Northwest Asian Weekly

The Pike Place Market Foundation has hired veteran technology and nonprofit executive Lisa Chin, Ph.D., as its new interim executive director. The move comes after the previous permanent director left following the cancellation of a Day of Remembrance celebration in February.

Dr. Jess Clark to Join College as New Provost

Dr. Jessica Clark has been named provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Bellevue College. Prior to Clark’s hire, which will be effective May 1, 2024, she worked as an executive educational strategist and has served as the Vice President of the Instruction Office at Walla Walla Community College and Vice President of Learning and Student Services at Northland Pioneer College.

Farewell, President Locke

About 60 people gathered for the farewell reception of Bellevue College Interim President Gary Locke on the BC campus on June 20. To honor Locke, the college named a room, the “Gary F. Locke Ballroom,” in the U Building, BC’s newest building constructed in 2020. The ballroom, an event room, spans approximately 6,216 square feet and can accommodate up to 950 guests.

BC’s Online Classes Get an Upgrade by Providing Training for Faculty

Some faculty members were more prepared for the sudden pandemic switch to online learning than others, and the BC eLearning team stepped up to create the Online Excellence Teaching Academy, a seven-course program giving instructors the tools they need to be successful in the virtual classroom.
