President’s Message: Our New Mission and Vision Are Here!

Dear Bellevue College community,

I’m excited to share an important milestone in our journey as a college. On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the Bellevue College Board of Trustees unanimously adopted new mission and vision statements that reflect the bold, student-centered future we are building—together.

These statements are more than just words. They are a powerful reflection of who we are, what we value, and where we’re headed as a college community.

Mission:

Bellevue College is a catalyst for lifelong transformation that drives social and economic progress. We innovate boldly, remove barriers, and equip students with the skills, knowledge, and resilience to thrive in an evolving world.

Vision:

Bellevue College will redefine higher education as a dynamic hub where innovation, purpose, and opportunity converge. As a national model for excellence, we will empower every learner—regardless of background—to shape their future, improve their industries and strengthen our community.

These statements are bold, forward-looking, and grounded in Bellevue College’s commitment to students, employees, and community impact. They will serve as Bellevue College’s North Star as we continue to shape our Strategic Plan. It is up to us to meet these challenges, and I look forward to the work to come to get us there.

The development process began in January 2025 during a strategic planning meeting with our Board of Trustees. From there, we engaged in thoughtful conversations and refinements to ensure our mission and vision reflect not only our evolving identity but also the aspirations we hold for the future of Bellevue College.

Now, it’s time to celebrate—and more importantly, to bring this vision to life. I look forward to continuing this work with all of you as we build a future that is innovative, inclusive, and inspiring.
