Fall Sustainability Series 2024

This fall the Office of Sustainability is hosting the annual Fall Sustainability Series. Get involved in helping protect local salmon recovery as Bellevue College works toward Salmon Safe Certification

This event is currently being planned and all events and information are subject to change

CSA Produce Box Sale

  • September 25, 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
  • C Courtyard
  • $20 a box – cards and exact cash accepted

Come get local, fresh, and organic produce and support farmers in the Puget Sound region. Each box is $20 and contains a bounty of fruits and vegetables.  

Hopelink Bus Orientation

Join Hopelink for a short field trip using public transit. You’ll take a short walk to the Eastgate Park & Ride, use an ORCA card (provided) and ride the bus back to campus. This is a great opportunity to learn how to ride the bus and receive a free, pre-loaded ORCA card ($11 value)! If you sign up and need accommodations or language interpretation services, please contact Heather Clark at hclark@hopelink.org or at 425-625-6784. 

Campus Habitat Restoration

In February, Bellevue College was awarded a grant from the National Wildlife Federation and Mutual of Omaha for a native plant restoration and biofiltration project on the east side of campus. Join the Office of Sustainability and Grounds Team on October 8th and October 23rd to help remove non-native invasive plant species, plant native vegetation, mulch, and install compost biofiltration devices to filter stormwater and keep our salmon healthy.  

Please be dressed for the weather and physical work outdoors. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Wind Farm Bike Tour

The wind and sun of Kittitas County are a tremendous natural resource for producing clean, renewable energy. Set high on a ridge, the Renewable Energy Center provides visitors with an up-close look at the facility’s 149 wind turbines and how these play into the larger energy system of Washington State.  Following lunch we will head to Manastash Ridge for an Introduction to Mountain Biking. 

Harvest Fair

Clothing Swap

Stop by to shop the racks for free while keeping clothes out of the landfill and combating fast fashion. Before the event, donate your clean clothes by placing them in the donation boxes in the Library, the L Building lobby, the Student Union lobby, and the Benefits Hub (U Building). Description TBD

Refill Event

Bring your empty containers and fill up on free, sustainable products like hand soap and laundry detergent. Open to all campus community members. 

Shop Sustainable Goods

Recooped is a local small business reducing landfill waste and giving items a second life.  Check out their custom BC bags made from old banners and other items made from recycled materials!

Climate Change is Scary

Share your thoughts on how best to green BC’s vehicles and make your voice heard as the Sustainability Office crafts the College’s first Fleet Decarbonization plan.  This is an important way to cut our carbon footprint and make an impact on local air quality. 

Transportation Carnival

  • 10:00 am to 11:30 am
  • Student Union Lobby (C Building)

Stop by the C Courtyard and learn about all the ways to get around the Puget Sound region. Play games, win prizes, and get your questions answered! King County Metro, Sound Transit, and Choose your Way Bellevue will be there to answer all your public transit questions.

Dye Workshop

Learn how to dye materials using plants and fungi. Details coming soon!

Arboretum Tour

Join Bellevue College’s Grounds Team for a walking tour of the campus arboretum. Learn more about the four distinct zones that make up BC’s Arboretum, as well as plant species, and plans to grow in the future!
