Faculty at Bellevue College participated in the second installment of the “Integrating Sustainability into Curriculum Workshop” on August 6th and 13th through the Faculty Commons.
Presentations from the faculty demonstrated that sustainability can be practiced in all disciplines. This summer faculty members heralded from departments around campus, including the following:
- Nursing
- Chemistry
- English
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Interior Design
A guiding principle of the workshop that drives new course material is the idea that sustainability incorporates 1) social, 2) economic, and 3) environmental principles.
With such a framework, faculty can see how these three dimensions impact the way students think – from what we learn to what we buy to how we live in our communities.
