Hopelink Transportation Assistance Programs are coming to Bellevue College! Bellevue College and Hopelink are partnering together to provide travel advising for students, starting this fall!
We want to help students understand their travel options, save money, and learn the most efficient ways to get to campus. With the support of BC’s Office of Sustainability and a Federal Transportation Administration grant, this project will be a primary focus of Hopelink’s 2-year grant cycle beginning July 1, 2013.
To be ready for students in Fall 2013, we would like to meet with as many programs as possible soon to discuss the program, and ask that you incorporate this free assistance service as part of any new/existing student orientations or welcome sessions for Fall Quarter 2013. We would be happy to attend any sessions to provide an overview and answer questions!
Our goals:
- Help Bellevue College students better understand their travel options for getting to campus.
- Help students unfamiliar with local transit options and trip planning to utilize this cost-saving resource.
- Reduce unnecessary single-occupancy vehicle travel to Bellevue College.
- Provide additional resources and support for first year, non-traditional, and international students.
We will:
- Provide short (15 minute) travel advising appointments to BC students at the start of each quarter for 7 consecutive quarters.
- Lead on-the-bus group training trips for out of area, non-traditional, or new students. (Transit fare and ORCA cards provided.)
- Encourage students to sign-up for Bellevue College transportation benefits, such as discounted bus passes.
- Encourage students to carpool to Bellevue College, as part of Bellevue College’s larger ridesharing initiative.
How you can help:
- Incorporate an advising session into requirements for your students or program participants.
- Invite your students to become Hopelink-trained volunteers to provide these travel options advising to other students.
Please contact Alyuna, Becky, or Deric for more info or to schedule an orientation or appointments for your students.
