Introduction to Urban Biking with an emphasis on bicycle safety checks, bicycle handling skills, safer practices for riding in traffic and critical thinking for safe cycling. Class meets for a combination of classroom and riding practice sessions with an optional San Juan Bike Tour after completion of the course.
Course Objectives:
- Identify basic skills needed to safely bike in an urban setting.
- Demonstrate ability to conduct the ABC quick check
- Introduce and practice bicycle handling maneuvers
- Demonstrate an ability to plan and prepare a bike trip or touring excursion.
- Identify lifetime health benefits of aerobic conditioning and cycling as a healthy lifestyle activity.
