Winners get their pick of prizes:

The Details
What you do:
Your wing will be competing against the other wings in the Student Housing building to see who can reduce their electricity consumption the most over a 2-week period. The wing that has the largest percentage reduction in energy usage will win the competition and each person in that wing will get to choose a prize! The competition is based on percentage reduction to account for different numbers of people living in each wing.
How to win: The community that wins the competition will be based on which one has the largest percentage reduction in electricity use over the two-week competition. To individually receive a prize for your wing winning the electricity competition, you must also record your shower time at least once per week during the competition on the shower time log form (see below).

Background
Read below to get some background on Electricity and why we are working on reducing our usage!
Electricity is essential to our everyday lives. It charges our phones and electronics, turns on the lights, and makes our living spaces a comfortable temperature. But it costs money and produces carbon emissions, contributing to climate change. Luckily, there are many simple ways you can decrease your consumption! These include turning off the lights and unplugging electronics when not being used, making sure windows and doors are closed when the heater is on, wearing extra clothes and turning down the heater, and using energy efficient products.
Some day you might move on from student housing and could be paying your own electricity. This competition will help you form good habits to save money in the future. By taking simple steps, you can see a lot of benefits for your wallet and your planet!
