Various Dates in Sept & Oct: Racial Justice is Climate Justice Hosted by 350 Seattle (External Event)

350 Seattle's Racial Justice is Climate Justice schedule for their learning schedule

Join 350 Seattle for a 4-part series on the deep connections between racial justice and climate justice! Throughout the month of September, 350 Seattle will host guest speakers to help us draw connections between climate campaigns and movements for racial justice. Topics will include prison abolition, defunding the police, affordable housing and environmental injustice.

Part 1 : September 10th — Speaker Dean Spade (Seattle University School of Law) on Prison Abolition

Part 2 : September 17th — Speaker Nikkita Oliver, Jerrell Davis and Oloth Insyxiengmay (Decriminalize Seattle) on Defund Police

Part 3 : September 24th — Speaker Maya Garfinkel (Be: Seattle) on Affordable Housing

Part 4 : October 1st — Speakers from Tacoma LNG Resistance on Environmental Injustice

Kiss the Ground is a documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson that sheds light on an alternative approach to farming called “regenerative agriculture” that has the potential to balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world.  Watch the trailer here!

The Office of Sustainability and Hopelink Mobility have teamed up to bring you an exciting and in-depth transportation webinar. Learn about transportation resources, trip planning solutions, money saving tips, and unique solutions for getting around. During this challenging time we hope to give attendees the resources and tools to confidently and safely travel within the Bellevue and Puget Sound region.

Metro and Sound Transit are charging fares again, so this is a great time to learn about getting around!

Tuesday October 6, 2020, 11 am to 2 pm: Bellevue College CSA Produce Boxes

Our BC Homecoming produce stand has been transformed to community supported agriculture (CSA) boxes! Come get your local, fresh and organic produce all while supporting farmers in the Puget Sound region. Each box is $18.00 and will contain a bounty of organic produce (10 different types of fruits and veggies!). Reserve your box now! Boxes are first come, first serve, so don’t delay as there’s a limited quantity available.

Types of produce (subject to change): Organic carrots bunch, organic red curly kale, organic shallots, organic red beets, organic zucchini and summer squash, organic baby shiitake mushrooms, rescue pears, basil, organic anaheim chile peppers, organic rainbow cherry tomatoes.

Once reserved, we will send you a confirmation email and online payment directions will follow. Pickups will be on campus and without contact. All orders must be picked up on Tuesday, Oct 6th between 11 am and 2 pm and there will be no refunds.

Learn how to make vegetarian Paella Verde with BC’s very own paella master, Mark Storey!

Mark will be providing a live, online demo on how to cook paella, tips and tricks, and a bit on the history of paella. Sign up REQUIRED.

Learn how to take action on climate and social justice, by taking a pledge, calculating your emissions, & more! We have plenty of ways for you to take action from home.

Tuesday November 10, 1:30 pm to 2:20 pm: Bellevue College Green Careers Panel

A panel of 5 industry experts cover topics about working in the sustainability field. Moderated by Theo Koepf, Office of Sustainability Outreach Coordinator who will guide the panelists in answering questions for students looking for a sustainability, business, design, solar, waste, or climate adjacent career.
