Some photos from our Diablo Lake Tour!

On Friday, July 19, we traveled with 17 students up to the wild and remote North Cascades for a tour of Diablo Lake on a trip funded by the Student Environmental Sustainability Fund (SESF). Diablo Lake is part of the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project begun in the 1930s to bring power to the city of Seattle. Three dams were erected to harness the river: Gorge, which is the lowest, Diablo, and then Ross. Gorge, Diablo and Ross lakes were all created as the flow of the Skagit River was interrupted to direct the water through the turbines in the dams.

Follow us on social media where we’ll post more pictures and video of our trip! We love great events and hope you’ll join us on our next outing. In the meantime, there are many ways to get involved and have fun outside of classes; visit our Organizations page to find a group that fits you!
