An Ongoing Partnership

As previously mentioned, work on the website redesign has resumed alongside our partnership with vendor OHO Interactive. The core team is excited about this development; it negates the need for extensive onboarding and knowledge transfer as OHO were integral to the design and development of the core site. They will be responsible for the design of our division and department sites, and development will be handled in-house.

From Surveys to Sitemaps

With the core team’s assistance, OHO conducted stakeholder interviews in early January, fielding the input of community members from all over campus. Students, faculty, and staff responsible for the management of a multitude of BC sites were given the opportunity to speak to the needs of their respective areas. This needs assessment was two-fold: it began with a general survey in December directed at nearly 200 interviewees, and was then pared down to 30+ key participants who spoke to the division, department, and support areas the majority of BC sites represent. The resulting sitemaps were reviewed by the core team, which was followed by extensive revision based on survey and interview data.

Next Steps

Wireframes that meet the needs of a website’s visitors are the result of thorough sitemap research and development. The core team endeavors to continue addressing the current need of website managers, while simultaneously advocating for results that exceed our community’s expectations. We anticipate that our second round of wireframe revisions will be completed by the end of April, which will be followed by the production of an annotation guide shortly thereafter.
