Accredited Program Details

In the event of a complaint of non-compliance, individuals must first file a complaint with the program or institution and may follow the formal grievance procedure.

General Complaint Resolution Procedures

If the individual is unable to resolve the complaint with program officials or believes that the concerns have not been properly addressed, the individual may submit allegations of non-compliance directly to JRCERT.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Radiation Therapy program at Bellevue College is to provide a high-quality education serving the needs of the state of Washington, the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The program recruits a diverse pool of individuals pursuing a career in Radiation Therapy. It prepares graduates with the critical knowledge, skill, and ability to competently deliver prescribed treatments safely. And to become radiation therapists who continually learn and provide quality care thus improving patient outcomes within the community. In affirming the mission and core values of Bellevue College, the Radiation Therapy Program aims to instill ethical and cultural competence within its people and processes by applying principles of diversity and equity.

Program Goals and Student Learning Outcomes

Program Goal One: Students will be clinically competent as entry level radiation therapists

Student Learning Outcomes:
•Student will determine an appropriate shift or set up correction using knowledge of anatomy and imaging modalities.
•Student will apply principles of radiation protection to clinical practice
•Student will apply appropriate ethical and legal practices

Program Goal Two: Students/graduates will be able to effectively communicate in all aspects of radiation therapy

Student Learning Outcomes:
•Student will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with members of the oncology team
•Student will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients

Program Goal Three: Students/graduates will be able to apply critical thinking and problem solving in analyzing radiation therapy scenarios

Student Learning Outcomes:
•Student will demonstrate appropriate critical thinking skills and problem solving in clinical situations
•Student will demonstrate appropriate critical thinking skills and problem solving in didactic situations

Program Goal Four: Students will exhibit professional growth in the program and after graduation

Student Learning Outcomes:
•Graduates will continue memberships with the ASRT.
•Students will join the ASRT as student members and participate in the ASRT directed readings program.
•Graduates will maintain professional certification after graduation.
