Several students were asked recently to express their thoughts about what they learned in their Disability Awareness course and why it is important to understand disclosure. Here’s a couple of their responses:
“I think that disclosing your disability means you are expressing your Real-Self to others, and not being hesitant to share your secret.” – Chelsea
“I think disclosing your disability is good because it can help you get out your secret and maybe they can get you accommodations. If you don’t disclose, it’s going to cause a lot of problems & set you up for disaster or you could be labeled.” – Turner
Disability Awareness is one of the many courses OLS Students take to obtain their associates degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program register for an upcoming Information Session.
