Students enrolled in Music Appreciation participated in a fun activity sharing instruments during class. The students were tasked with finding the Instrument they wanted to share. Some students used Instruments they had as children, others chose to make an instrument. Our goal for this activity was to create sound and rhythm using instruments and for students to explore the range of tone you can make with more wind, faster drumming, drumsticks vs drum brush, holding a note longer or shorter, etc. The students demonstrated Communication and Listening Skills while making music together.
As a class we learned that everyone can make music! You do not need an expensive instrument to produce great sound.
Here’s some of the instruments our students shared:
Nadine – Made a drum from a Nestle Tin and Drum Sticks from Chopsticks
Matthew – Drum Pad he got when he was little
Daniel – Acoustic Guitar been playing for years
Luka – Made a Guitar from a Cereal Box, Paper Towel Roll and Rubber Bands
Nia – Ukulele she got on vacation
Sarah – Celtic Drum she got in Ocean Shores
Ryan – Eletric Keyboard had since he was little
So much creativity by all!
