During our winter quarter, Individual Study students had the unique opportunity to tour and gain hands-on experience at the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute at Bellevue College.

Students delved into the world of healthcare, discovering a variety of career paths. In the nursing skills lab, they got to try out ultrasound equipment, immerse themselves in virtual reality (VR) radiation therapy training, listen to vital signs on a mannequin, and even perform mock blood withdrawal procedures.

Special thanks to Mauziar (Maz) Nikzad, Instructional Lab Coordinator, and Andrew Buenbrazo-Administrative Lead, for their support, incredible demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.
This experience provided valuable insights and practical skills, inspiring students to pursue careers in healthcare with greater enthusiasm and confidence.

About the OLS Individual Study Course
The goal of the Individual Study course is for students to more clearly identify or define their specific career path. Students participate in industry job site tours to enhance their career pathways. Each student also designs an individualized project that provides experience in areas not offered by OLS or areas outside of the OLS program expertise and must include at least two in-person job shadows, research, reflection, and the end-of-project presentation.
