In the fourth year at OLSBC, students participate in a 250+ hour internship with a local business. All internships are specific to each student and their career pathway. Throughout winter and spring quarters, look for our Internship Stories on our website and social media pages.

Intern: Zeke
Place of Internship: Goodwill
Internship Duties: Package e-commerce items to be sent to customers: find proper box size, safely package items and tape box for shipping.
Career Pathway: Warehouse
“My favorite part of my internship at Goodwill was shipping very easy items such as the vinyl records, which I put in 14x14x4 boxes, which was my preferred size when it comes to shipping records. Whenever I discover a recognizable record such as a classic rock album or movie soundtrack, I would go, ‘Hey, I recognize that album!’ and I just roll along with it.”

About Goodwill
Goodwill was founded in Boston by Reverend Edgar J. Helms, a Methodist minister and early social innovator. Helms created the Goodwill philosophy of “not charity, but a chance” when he collected used household goods and clothing in wealthier areas of the city, then trained and hired people who were poor to mend and repair the used goods. The goods were then sold or given to the people who repaired them. 120 years later, Goodwill remains a household name and leading nonprofit provider of educational and workforce-related services.
