OLS Students Receive Honorary Mention for BC Builds Contest

The Bellevue College Foundation and the Office of Sustainability recently organized the BC Builds contest, which aimed to encourage innovative projects crafted from the old campus banners. This project fostered creativity and promoted sustainability, with the goal of showing it’s possible to reduce how much goes to the landfill through reuse and repurposing items.

4th-year OLS students participated by developing three Disability Pride themed projects – a shopping bag, a pencil holder, and a captivating art piece. These projects showcased their artistic skills and conveyed a meaningful message about inclusivity and disability pride.

All three OLS student projects received honorable mentions in the competition. Each student project earned a $25 award, accompanied by a matching reward to be directed towards a program of their choice at Bellevue College. Plus, each student received a BC t-shirt from the Foundation.

We are so proud of our students for their amazing projects and continued involvement in their college campus. A special shout out of thanks goes to the RISE Makerspace for supplies and support helping to bringing these projects to life.
