Our Computer Fundamentals class had a riveting community day activity involving guest speaker Nichole Tilbury from Starbucks Corporate. She spoke about her use of spreadsheets in her accounting background, as well as explaining the creative process, planning/organization techniques, and technology used in her current position as a Senior Product Manager in Food Innovation Delivery.

Nichole shared the humanizing aspects of herself and her path, as well as her use of Microsoft Suite products (Word, Teams, Power Point, Excel, Onedrive) to feature her work and aide in her communications. She also shared that her career path included starting as a barista and growing into a specialized skillful position within the corporate headquarters; an inspiring and intriguing path for the students to learn about.
Students had a chance to ask their questions and curiosities after the presentation; sparking a lively discussion and reflecting upon the skills involved in Nichole’s job, her career path, and whether they themselves could envision working in the Starbucks family. Everyone enjoyed Nichole’s presentation thoroughly, and each participant was left with wonderful examples of the skills they are actively gaining shared in an active professional context.
Computer Fundamentals is one of the many courses OLS Bellevue College students take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program register for an upcoming Information Session.
