Sam Cryan joined the BC Science Division faculty in Spring 2024 and is one of the guides through the fascinating world of Oceanography at Bellevue College. His academic background is in oceanography – focusing on the chemicals produced by plankton and their effect on the ocean’s carbon and nitrogen cycles. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a Master’s degree from University of Washington’s School of Oceanography.
Committed to experiential learning and fostering accessibility in oceanography, he is passionate about engaging with prospective students to discuss both the subject matter and career opportunities within the field.
