Biography:

Nancy Lane teaches Oceanography, Environmental Science, and Biology in the BC Science Division. She began her science career right here at Bellevue College as a transfer student to the University of Washington. Later, she earned a Master’s of Science at the University of South Florida. Along with teaching, she has had the opportunity to do some really interesting work around the country evaluating the impact of chemicals and radionuclides on human health and the environment. She is also “Path Certified” in chromosome analysis, which means she has been trained to identify changes in our DNA with different genetic diseases.

Nancy adds:

“Have you seen the film Chasing Corals on Netflix?  I watched it and felt I just had to do something about the loss of corals during my lifetime.  The College and Science Division have been incredibly supportive.  Now I am working on new curriculum about the changes our oceans are undergoing – especially corals and ocean acidification. You can read more about my work here: https://commons.bellevuecollege.edu/coral/

I look forward to meeting you all.”
