On October 24, Bellevue College (BC) will hold Noche Latinx!, a free college information session geared for the Latino community. Attendees will learn more about BC’s academic programs, how to pay for a college education, support programs offered by the college and unique opportunities for undocumented students.
The event was developed by BC’s Undocumented Student Task Force, which is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for this population.
“The Latino community plays an important role in our country’s history, development, economic growth and leadership. All demographic projections show that it will continue to grow,” said Henry Amaya, Multicultural Services director. “At the same time, although this community has made gains in higher education, there is still a need to increase educational opportunities.”
“Having a skilled and educated workforce is critical to our local industries, which is why this outreach is so important,” added Aris M. Andrade, program manager for Faculty Commons. “We want to spread the word to these potential students that we have the academic programs to prepare them for great jobs, and a dedicated staff to provide support and guidance that’s inclusive.”
Noche Latinx! will take place Oct. 24, from 6 – 9 p.m. in the C Building, Room 115. For more information, contact Henry Amaya at henry.amaya@bellevuecollege.edu, or Aris M. Andrade at (425) 564-3344 or aris.andrade@bellevuecollege.edu.
