Seminars

The Molecular Biosciences program sponsors free seminars from fall through spring of the academic year. The seminars are presented by professionals in the Molecular Biosciences fields including research and healthcare. Open to the community, please register for an upcoming seminar to receive the Zoom conference link for that presentation.

Empowering Student Research with Nanopore Sequencing

On November 22nd, Dr. Rodolfo Probst will discuss his career in biology and molecular phylogenetics, sharing his journey into phylogenomics and the development of his current research on ant-plant symbioses and biodiversity cataloguing at University of Utah’s Science Research Initiative (SRI). This talk will introduce the fundamentals of nanopore sequencing for a general audience and highlight some projects led by SRI students showing how the technology can enable student-driven projects across diverse interests. Join us to learn about the versatility of this accessible technology and how it may be incorporated into a variety of research/class settings.

The seminar is open to everyone and will be held on November 22, 2024 from 11 AM to 12 PM in room U208/209.
