
Multicultural Services invites you to join in community as we celebrate the life, the legacy, and the works of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr. An array of festivities will take place January 13-15, 2025.
Our theme for this year draws inspiration from Dr. King’s seminal work, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? As we reflect on his call for justice and equity, we aim to explore how his insights remain deeply relevant in addressing today’s challenges.
Monday, January 13th- Gratitude Station- An opportunity for students, faculty and staff to write down and post things they are grateful for as well as share reflections on the works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Attend 12:00pm-2:00pm in the C building, cafeteria area. This is a student lead event hosted by Student Affinity Coordinators.
Tuesday, January 14th- Film Screening of Selma. This docudrama delves into the historical marches from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery, Alabama to secure voting rights for black Americans. The film focuses on the life of Dr. King and his activism during the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Join us from 1:00pm-3:15pm in the Social Justice Center, Room B207.
Wednesday, January 15th – The MLK Keynote Address. This year’s MLK keynote address will be brought by author Ijeoma Oluo. Attend in person in the Gary Locke Ballroom, U301 A/B or view the livestream from 12:00pm-1:30pm. The event will feature the Bellevue College Choir. Event will also include food from Island Soul, Q&A, and book signing. The college will provide a limited number of copies of Ijeoma Oluo’s book, So You Want to Talk About Race.
