Concurrent Enrollment

F-1 students can engage in concurrent enrollment, allowing them to take courses at Bellevue College while maintaining their status at their primary institution. Popular with students who need individual classes that are not offered at their primary institution or are on OPT.

Steps We Recommend:

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm with your current institution that you’re allowed to take classes elsewhere.
  2. Verify Transferability: Ensure that courses taken at Bellevue College will transfer to your current institution.
  3. Review Classes and Prerequisites: Check class availability and prerequisites on the class schedule page.
  4. Apply: Apply to our International Student Portal by our listed dates and deadlines
  5. Get Accepted & Set Up Accounts: Once accepted, create your student accounts promptly.
  6. Clear Prerequisites Early: If you’ve already met a course prerequisite, submit your transcript for clearance. This can take 3–5 business days—complete it before enrollment opens.
  7. Know Enrollment Dates: Refer to the Academic Calendar for enrollment and class start dates.

Concurrent enrollment means:

  • Your F-1 immigration record (SEVIS record) is held and maintained by another institution, not Bellevue College.
  • Your F-1 immigration record will not be transferred to Bellevue College.
  • Bellevue College allows concurrent students to enroll in multiple consecutive quarters through in-person, hybrid, and online formats.

Students currently on OPT:

  • Check with your current institution for rules about concurrent enrollment while on OPT.
  • Should not be enrolled full-time.
  • Should be enrolled in fewer than 12 credits at Bellevue College.
