Observed Health Days

The month of December has multiple observed health days, the first being December 1st, World AIDS Day. This day is the first ever global health day founded back in 1988 and dedicated to individuals uniting worldwide to fight against HIV and those who have passed away from AIDS-related illnesses. Visit the World Aids Day website to find out what you can do to support World AIDS Day.

The second recognized day is December 3rd, the International Day of Persons Day with Disabilities. In the United States, the International Day of Persons Day with Disabilities is extremely important to recognize because it is a reminder of how the United States models our fundamental rights of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. This is important to understand as 80% of individuals living with disabilities live in developing countries. To learn more about events throughout the world to support the International Day of Persons Day with Disabilities please visit this website.
