Nan Ma grew up in Beijing, China, and earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Riverside. Before joining Bellevue College in 2013, she taught at UC Riverside, Grinnell College, and Nanjing University. Passionate about professional development and cross-campus collaboration, Nan has been an active participant in numerous Faculty Commons workshops and activities, including facilitating a workshop on Asian American studies for six quarters, co-facilitating a book club on the novel The Gangster We Are All Looking For, and co-leading a yearlong learning community on culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies and practices. She is honored to serve as Faculty Commons Interim Chair and is excited to work alongside the Faculty Commons Council to advance its mission.
