SOTL is a BC community of scholarship in its second year. In 2022-23, participants from multiple disciplines and divisions focused on demographic identifying information for the student coupled with their work using Canvas gradebook. This year, the group plans to look at other information that is captured within ctcLink. Some of the data of interest is the effectiveness of various supports such as: early alert notifications, FYS completion and/or virtual one-on-one meetings with students in our asynchronous classes. In addition, we are considering how knowledge of students’ college level math or English completion, as well as their enrollment date may provide some insight for intervention.
The SOTL group meets virtually every Wednesday from 2-3pm and with a kick-off meeting on Oct. 18th The commitment to participate is 40 hours for the academic year, divided equally over three quarters. Faculty will receive a stipend for their participation.
