BC Adviser User Guide
- BC Adviser serves as an academic, admissions, and guidance counselor at Bellevue College. You can ask BC Adviser things you would ask an adviser in person or through phone and email. This guide reflects the functionality of BC Adviser as of 08/15/18
- BC Adviser uses Amazon Alexa. Be sure to have an Alexa enabled device, such as an Echo or Echo Dot, to use BC Adviser.
- Currently you can ask BC Adviser for information on a variety of topics. When you ask
BC Adviser for information on a topic, it will provide you with the requested information or ask you for additional details about what you are asking about. - There are myriad ways to ask BC Adviser for information on a topic. For each topic you can ask for, you request it via a set of words, or utterances. We have included suggested utterances for each possible topic below, though there are certainly many other ways for asking about a topic. Try to see if you can come up with more! Utterances are in italic. You should always precede each utterance with the phrase, “Ask BC Adviser”.
Setup
You can search for and enable BC Adviser in the Alexa app and from the Alexa Skills store on the Amazon website. You can just say “Alexa, enable BC Adviser.”
To enable BC Adviser at the Alexa Skills store:
- Go to the menu, and select Skills.
- Search for BC Adviser, select it to open the skill detail page.
- Select the Enable Skill option, or ask Alexa to open the skill.
Tip: Refer to the skill’s detail page for examples of things to say and to learn more.
Note: For information about setting up and using skills for smart home devices, go to Connect Smart Home Devices to Alexa with Smart Home Skills. You don’t need Alexa Skills to use the services available with Amazon Cloud Cam.
