Bulldog Men Go 1-2 at Yakima Crossover Tourney

Bellevue College men’s basketball won an overtime thriller on the opening day of the Yakima Valley Crossover Tourney, but faltered on the next two days to go 1-2 at the event. The Bulldogs are 6-6 overall.

On Thursday December 17, the ‘dogs won in overtime 101-96 over an athletic Green River team. Down by 8 at halftime, the Bulldogs put up 52 points in the second half, then kept the scoring spree going by outscoring the Gators 12-7 in OT. Jordan Muir-Kueng led a balanced scoring attack with 21 points. Jack Walton made his season debut by playing nearly the entire game and scoring 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting and had 5 rebounds. Brian Zehr chipped in 15 while Calvin Dennis added 13 and Aqueel Williams had 12.

On Friday December 18, Bellevue lost to Portland 86-80. It was Portland this time who went off in the second half, scoring 53 points to outshoot Bellevue after the teams were tied at 33 at halftime. Dennis led BC with 13 points.

On Saturday December 19, Bellevue fell to Yakima 83-76. Zehr led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Walton had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Bellevue’s next game is after the holidays, on December 30, with a 12:00 p.m. tipoff vs. the Gonzaga University club team. The Bulldogs then follow with two more games to complete pre-season play with a re-match with Yakima at home on January 2 (2:00 p.m.)  followed by a 7:00 p.m. game at Highline on January 4.
