
Bellevue College softball took a big step towards controlling the North Region with a sweep over visiting Everett by scores of 7-4 and 3-2.
The Bulldogs received a bit of a scare in the opener, falling behind early 3-0 in the third before the offense came alive with all seven of their runs in the middle innings. Maddie Repp got things going with a double to score Anna Fowler before scoring on a single by Riley Pirkle. The Bulldogs had chances with runners on second and third and one out to tie the game but two outs left the ‘dogs down 3-2. The hits kept coming however in the fourth as Pirkle doubled to score Brooke Baker, who drove in Ella Singer earlier to take a 4-3 lead. Singer would single and score again in the fifth to give BC insurance runs to seal the win. Singer was two for three with two runs as was Fowler. Pirkle and Repp.
In game two, Everett outhit Bellevue six to three but the three hits big ones as two of them came in the three-run sixth as Hallie Sehlin singled then scored on a home run by Pirkle. Sehlin’s single drove in Repp to break the shutout earlier in the inning. Brooke Baker went the distance on the mound with eight strikeouts for Bellevue.
The Bulldogs continue their busy week with four more games. Bellevue, at 13-3 overall, hosts Olympic Fri. Apr. 4 at 4pm before hosting Skagit Valley on Sat. Apr. 5 at noon.
