Bellevue College women’s basketball brought home a big time road win at Olympic with a dramatic come-from-behind win 77-71 in Bremerton. The Bulldogs poured it on in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rangers 29-14 in the final quarter to stage the furious comeback.
The pivotal fourth was highlighted by Aysha Peter and Devynn Warns, who collectively scored 26 of the team’s 29 fourth quarter points.
Peter held the hot hand early scoring 14 points and drained three of four from three point land and was a perfect three for three from the free throw line.
Warns took over with 2:35 to go scoring 10 of her 12 points in the quarter while sinking seven of eight free throws to propel BC to the win. Warns, whose only field goal in the quarter was a three-pointer, drained her only attempt to put Bellevue up 72-69 with 2:03 remaining. She would later cash in on six consecutive free throws as she was fouled in Olympic’s final minute acts of desperation sending her to the foul line.
Warns, a previous NWAC Player of the Week, scored 34 points while Peter poured in 24. She also snagged eight rebounds to go with 12 from Ghadir Ramadan as the two of them dominated the ‘boards with 20 of the team’s 36 on the night.
The win was huge for the Bulldogs not only for avenging an earlier 82-76 loss, but also kept them in second place at 6-3 (14-10 overall) in the North Region. The Bulldogs travel to Peninsula this Wed. Feb. 12 for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
