Bellevue College women’s basketball took home an easy 74-58 win over host Whatcom in NWAC North Region play. With consistent play throughout the game, Bellevue took control in the third quarter with an 18-9 advantage and never looked back. The Bulldogs were too much defensively for the Orcas, outrebounding them 36-26 while forcing 17 turnovers. Devynn Warns was BC’s biggest pressure threat with five steals as every player on Bellevue’s team who saw action registered at least one.
Warns single handedly took control in the third with four of her five steals in that quarter and put up 12 points. BC manged to get off 24 shots while the Orcas could only get down court for only nine in the quarter. With BC down 42-40 with 4:44 to go in the third, Warns went on a torrid ten point stretch to put the ‘dogs up 50-42.
Warns’ 19 points were complemented by Myana Calloway who had 18 points and Aysha Peter who had 17. Katen Myers had 10 rebounds; six of them on the offensive side, which were both game highs for the Bulldogs.
