Bellevue College women’s basketball won their first league game of the season topping host Everett 61-44 at the Walt Price Center in Everett. Led by the dominating rebounding performance by Katen Myers (15) and Ghadir Ramadan (13), Bellevue was able to fend off any late rally by the Trojans, who struggled offensively for entire game. While BC shot only 34% on the day, Everett managed 27% from the field and a dismal seven of 16 (43%) from the line.

Bellevue jumped out 14-7 after the first quarter then led 31-24 at halftime before maintaining control again during the entire second half with a strong defensive effort in the third as Myana Calloway had three steals in the quarter with Ramadan adding two. Bellevue drained 12 of 15 from the line in the second half as Everett, after a brief moment down by only five early in the second half, trailed by double digits for the remainder of the game. A BC layup by Lily Auelua with 3:17 to go gave Bellevue their biggest lead at 56-39 as the ‘dogs sailed to an easy win.

Aysha Peter had 18 points while Ramadan added 12 to go along with her strong rebounding effort. Calloway was a catalyst with four steals and four assists as the ‘dogs were without the services of lineup mainstay Devynn Warns.

Bellevue is 1-1 in North Region play (9-8 overall) and will host league leader Peninsula this Wed. Jan. 15 at 5 p.m.
