Bellevue College went 2-1 this weekend at the Bellevue Crossover Tourney held at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

On the opening night, Fri. Dec. 13, Bellevue topped East Region rep Wenatchee Valley 72-62. For the first time this year, Bellevue was able to flip a cold first quarter start into a win, as the ‘dogs outscored the Knights 23-12 in the second quarter after trailing 17-11 after the first. In the second quarter comeback, the Bulldogs got off 21 shots while limiting Wenatchee Valley to just 10. The ‘dogs make 48% in the quarter as they were aggressive on second attempts with five offensive rebounds. Myana Calloway had nine in the quarter en route to a 20 point night.

The Knights would rally late, tying it up at 50 in the fourth quarter on a layup by Lili Schmitt. In a close fourth quarter, the Bulldogs clutched up at the free throw line as Katen Myers and Calloway were a perfect six-for-six down the stretch to prevent any last second Wenatchee Valley heroics.

Devyn Warns continued her all around complete game package trend with 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

On Sat. Dec. 14 the Bulldogs lost to top-ranked defending NWAC Champion Lane by a score of 72-53. Lane raced out to a 53-19 lead at halftime by dominating on the rebounding end. The Titans outrebounded BC 25-4 in the half. The ball control enabled Lane to get off 44 shots, draining 50% for the early blowout.

Bellevue was able to generate a little momentum in the second half, as Warns scored 11 points and was four-for-five from the line as BC outscored Lane 20-14. In the fourth quarter Ghadir Ramadan was a perfect four-for-four as Bellevue again outscored Lane 14-5 as the Titans played seven reserves.

On Sun. Dec. 15, the Bulldogs topped Green River 72-65. BC raced out in front 30-13 which was just enough of a cushion to offset the Gators’ small comebacks for the remaining three quarters. Warns, Calloway, and Ramadan were a combined nine-for-13 in the opening quarter to lift BC. After a sluggish start out of the gate, down 9-8, Bellevue put up 22 points in the next five minutes to reverse the momentum.

Warns had 18 points with nine rebounds while Calloway added 12 points and seven assists. Ramadan had 14 points and a team high 13 rebounds to lead the way for Bellevue as the ‘dogs cashed in on 26 of 57 shots for 46% and converted 78% at the free throw line.

Bellevue is now 5-5 and will host South Puget Sound this Wed. Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.
