Bellevue College baseball continued their hot hitting with another seven home runs on the weekend and also got dominant performances on the mound by several pitchers as the Bulldogs swept all four games from Shoreline over the weekend by scores of 6-2, 14-4, 11-0, and 10-0. On Saturday April 9, Adrian Sampson went the distance on the mound scattering five hits. Kyle Conwell and Tyler Cox hit back-to-back home runs for the second consecutive weekend in the explosive six-run third inning. Co-captain Cory Urquhart began his hot weekend at the plate with a single and a double. In game two, Bellevue spotted Shoreline a 4-2 lead before another big inning erupted in the second as Cox and Kyle Johnson hit back-to-back home runs in addition to an earlier home run halfway up the bank in right field by Andy Smith. Urquhart had another three hits as did Conwell. Scott Kuzminsky continued his domination out of the bullpen entering with the bases loaded and shutting the Dolphins out for his entire stint of 4 2/3 innings of relief. Jake Reppert came on to finish out the game striking out two in the final inning.
On Sunday April 10, Kyle Swannack followed up last week’s complete game shutout with another stellar outing; a three-hit shutout after four quick innings of work before giving way to Frank Tassara, who fanned two hitters in the final inning in a 11-0 win. Tyler Baumgartner hit a grand slam home run to center field in addition to three singles by Cox to pace the offense. In game two, Matt Cooper threw only 64 pitches in seven shutout innings to lead the Bulldogs. With a 6-0 lead in the eighth, the Dolphins threatened with the bases loaded and two outs. Reliever Tyler Manke entered and recorded a strikeout to kill the threat.
