Late Charge by Women’s Basketball Falls Just Short

Bellevue College women’s basketball had a see-saw game with visiting Shoreline, ultimately falling 72-64 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

Bellevue appeared to be in control with a 35-28 lead at halftime, but let it slip away after the Dolphins went on a run to outscore BC 26-10 in the pivotal third quarter. Shoreline was 11-for-18 in the quarter and yanked down 14 rebounds while Bellevue managed four-for-16 shooting and had only three rebounds as ball control went Shoreline’s way.

In the fourth, trailing 54-45, the Dolphins stretched the lead to 13 at 63-50 with 5:20 to play. But the ‘dogs rallied back and cut the deficit to five on two occasions, once at 2:04 on a layup by Sahara Soufi and a second time with 1:02 left on the clock following a Kristina Blauman field goal. But after closing the margin both times, BC could not stop Shoreline and ultimately fell by eight in the closing seconds.

Freshman Alicia Morrison led Bellevue with 17 points. She was three-for-five from three-point range.

Bellevue (3-2 / 7-13) will travel to Edmonds this Sat. Jan. 24 for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
