Bellevue College men’s basketball defeated host Olympic 96-82 in Bremerton. The North Region opener for both teams, the Bulldogs played consistent enough from the tipoff to keep Olympic at a distance.

BC got things going early, jumping up by as much as 17 points early in the game at 32-15. The Rangers battled back to 38-34 at halftime before BC’s offense took off again in the second half as the ‘dogs pushed the lead back to double digits at 57-45 just five minutes into the second half. Bellevue would keep enough momentum deep into the game before eventually turning it into a blowout.

The duo of Logan Stempniak and Jeremiah Hersrud led the ‘dogs as the two scored 23 and 26 points respectively. Stempniak had 14 rebounds as well. The two garnered significant points at the foul line as Stempniak was 10-for-11 while Hersrud was a perfect eight-for-eight. Hersrud had a well-rounded game with a team high five assists as well.

Bellevue (1-0 / 12-4) will host Everett this Saturday Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.
