Big Bend Tops Bellevue

BC Basketball

Bellevue College women’s basketball fell just short in a high scoring fourth quarter to Big Bend, 67-59 in the opening round of the NWAC Crossover Tourney hosted by Clackamas Community College.

After being down 41-38 after three quarters, Bellevue and Big Bend put on a scoring spree, throwing in 47 points between the two teams. After fighting back from a 29-20 halftime deficit, Marishka Boris led the charge for Bellevue in the final quarter with nine points on three-for-four shooting from three point land.

Boris’ three pointer with 3:27 left pulled BC to within four at 57-53 but could get no closer as the Bulldogs’ defense could not stop a red hot offense of Big Bend, as the Viking shot a scorching 82% from the field, making nearly everything they threw up sinking nine of 11 shots in the quarter.

Jordyn Smith had 12 points and seven rebounds for the ‘dogs as newcomer Mary Davis, playing in her first collegiate game after being recently activated, was five-for-eight from the field and had four steals and 10 points in her college debut.

Bellevue will play South Puget Sound at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday Dec. 16.
