Bellevue College men’s basketball hung on to beat visiting Highline 88-84 to close out a three games in three days stretch at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

Bellevue exchanged leads with the T-Birds throughout the game before staying in comfort zone for much of the second half, but with Highline within striking distance. With just over two minutes of play and a narrow 84-81 lead, Josiah Johnson came up big with a steal that was immediately converted into a bucket by Cooper Brown. A quick scoreless possession by Highline resulted in a Marcus Cole layup which gave BC the breathing room needed at 88-81 with a minute to play.

Bellevue stormed back in the second half to create the win after falling behind by as much has 12 points at 29-17 in the first half. Down 45-37 at halftime as Highline had the hotter hand shooting 55%, BC rallied for 51 points in the explosive second half. Cole led the way in the half on five-of-six shooting, ending with team-highs of 13 points and four assists. Cole ended the day with 23 points. Logan Stempniak had 13 rebounds for the ‘dogs.

Bellevue’s sweep over the weekend runs their record to 8-1 and a five game win streak on the line. Bellevue travels to Wenatchee this weekend for a three-game set in the NWAC Crossover Tourney at Wenatchee Valley College. The tourney will be a round-robin against Tacoma, host Wenatchee Valley, and Lane, respectively on Thursday-Saturday Dec. 14-16. Thursday’s opener is set for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
