Women’s Basketball Gets First Win

Bellevue College women’s basketball generated their first win, going 1-1 at the Pirate Classic hosted by Peninsula College in Port Angeles this weekend.

On Saturday Dec. 2, Bellevue fell in overtime to Treasure Valley 63-61 before rebounding for their win on Sunday Dec. 3 vs. Chemeketa by a score of 55-53.

In the overtime loss to Treasure Valley, the ‘dogs held a 10-point lead heading into the fourth quarter but went cold in the fourth, shooting a dismal three-for-21 as the Chukars stormed back to send the game into an extra period.

In OT, Jadyn Mueller got BC off to a hot start with a three-point conversion on a foul but quickly lost the lead and spent the final three minutes chasing the Chukars as Kristina Blauman made a pair of clutch free throws to bring BC back to 62-61 with five seconds remaining. After an intentional foul, Treasure Valley missed both ends of their free throws to give the Bulldogs a chance, but could not convert on a last second attempt to win the game.

Mueller led BC with 19 points and eight rebounds.

In the win over Chemeketa, Mckenna Morris led Bellevue in a fourth quarter comeback with seven points (game high 17) as Bellevue clinched their first win. Adior Juang, in her first start, collected 10 rebounds on BC’s defensive end.

Bellevue is 1-5 and will host Treasure Valley this weekend on Sat. Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.
