Columbia Basin Gets Revenge On BC Men’s Basketball

Columbia Basin overtook Bellevue College men’s basketball 66-59 in a re-match of last year’s semi-finals of the NWAC Championships. The Hawks used a hot second half, outscoring Bellevue 41-26 to secure the come-from-behind win.

In the second half, the ‘dogs were outrebounded 20-14 and shot only 41% from the free throw line. Bellevue held the lead, which was up to 10 at one point in the second half, until the Hawks tied it up at 44 with 10:44 remaining in the game. The game was back and forth until 5:55 remained in the game where Bellevue committed turnovers on consecutive possessions resulting in a six-point lead for CBC at 54-48 with just over four minutes to play. Turnovers and cold shooting kept Bellevue at a distance for the remainder of the game as the Hawks got their revenge on Bellevue.

Logan Stempniak had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the ‘dogs. Bellevue continues their swing in the East Region with a 6 p.m. game tomorrow night against host Walla Walla in the Warrior Invitational.
