Bellevue College men’s basketball continued their dominance carryover from last season with another win at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion, topping visiting Tacoma 76-69. Josiah Johnson was red hot in the second half, dumping in six of eight from the field and had 16 points in the half as BC locked down the win.
Tacoma got it to within five on a layup by Winston Cole with 5:50 remaining, but a three-pointer by Logan Stempniak prevented the Titans from making any more runs for the half. Stempniak was equally as impressive as Johnson in the second half, scoring 14 points and was a perfect two-for-two from both the three-point arc and free throw line. Both Stempniak and Johnson had 23 points for the Bulldogs. The twosome were also the team leaders with seven and six rebounds respectively.
On the night BC shot 55% from the field and drained an impressive 81% from the free throw line.
Bellevue runs their record to 3-0 and will travel for the first time this season to the Walla Walla Invitational Fri-Sat. Nov. 1-2. The ‘dogs will open up Friday at 4 p.m. vs. Columbia Basin in a re-match of last year’s semi-final game of the 2023 NWAC Championship.
