
Bellevue College men’s basketball had to fight off a stingy host Highline College team in a 64-58 win. After jumping out to a 38-29 halftime lead, the T-Birds’ defense clamped down outrebounding BC 24-19, caused 10 Bellevue turnovers, and generated eight steals in their comeback efforts.
Up by as much as 13 points early on in the second half, Highline whittled the lead down to four with just under seven minutes to play on a layup by Jacob LaBounty. Bellevue answered with a quick bucket by Daniel Thomas to keep Highline from getting any closer.
Bellevue’s defense then shutdown Highline’s offense, keeping the T-Birds scoreless for a key three minute stretch as BC lengthened the lead to nine with a little over two minutes to play.
Aydan Janssan had a solid night for Bellevue dumping in 14 points along with 11 rebounds and five assists. Fellow sophomore Bishop Tosi had a team-high 13 rebounds for the ‘dogs as well.
Bellevue has a quick turnaround with a noon tipoff today, Saturday January 7 at Lower Columbia.
