Bellevue College women’s soccer defeated visiting Lower Columbia yesterday afternoon 2-0. In a match that took a while for Bellevue to get things going, the score was tied 0-0 for much of the entire match until 15 minutes into the second half as Maddie Drye, a defender, scored the team’s first goal to finally break the tie. With Bellevue up 1-0, Lower Columbia had chances but fell victim to the stellar play in the box by keeper Celia LaGuardia who recorded the shutout with 7 saves.
Fatumata Dukureh added an insurance goal in the closing minutes with four minutes to play on an assist by Natalie Hawkins, who also assisted on Drye’s goal.
Bellevue is now 1-0-1 in West Region play and 2-3-2 overall. The Bulldogs host Tacoma this Saturday September 18 at 4:00 p.m.
