Bellevue College men’s golf took home the trophy once again by winning the SW Oregon Invitational by strokes over host SW Oregon. The two-day tourney was played at the Old Macdonald and Bandon Dunes courses at the Bandon Dunes Resort on the Oregon Coast.
In a bit of a surprise, BC did not win the individual medalist honor, as Tyler Garner of SW Oregon bested Bellevue’s Dallon Bennett and Austin Duffy by carding a 3-under 69 to top the two ‘dogs by two strokes. In the process of sweeping all of the team titles this year, Bellevue has also captured the medalist titles as well until this week. The team came through with depth however, as right behind Duffy and Bennett was Tyler Spalti at 7-over to take fourth overall behind Garner, Bennett, and Duffy. Jaeger Christian shot a pair of 78’s to finish sixth overall.
The Bulldogs were up 17 strokes after day one on the Old Mac layout before Garner’s hot round led a small charge by SW Oregon as the gap was only increased by three strokes on day two.
Bellevue remains undefeated this year and will play their historic season finale next week at the NWAC Invitational at the Home Course Sunday and Monday May 16-17.
