Bulldogs Softball Open Another Season With 2-2 Split

This past weekend, the Bulldogs traveled down to Portland to battle the elements and managed to get in all their games on opening weekend, including big wins over 4-year schools Concordia University and Northwest Christian University.

On Friday, the Dawgs started the season against NWAACC power Clackamas CC. Despite strong pitching by starter Hannah Sauget, the Dawgs’ bats were cold as they were shutout on offensive to drop game one. The Dawgs didn’t let the game one defeat hold them back as they rebounded for a big win against 4-year Concordia University 5-4 behind a strong effort on the mound from pitcher Brielle Bray.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs played a doubleheader against Northwest Christian University losing game one in a battle of the bats by a score of 9-7. As they did on Friday, the Dawgs rebounded from the first loss of the day to take the second game in another high scoring affair, winning 9-8.

Freshman Alex Kubeska and Katie Jackson each got their first college homeruns during the weekend.

Up next, the Bulldogs travel to the inter-region tournament at the RAC in Lacey March 7-9.
