Softball Wins Four Over Weekend; Remains Undefeated in North Region

The Bulldogs softball team swept both Everett CC and Shoreline CC to extend its winning streak to 21 straight and improve to 16-0 in the North Region and 27-1 overall.

On Friday, April 29, Bellevue beat host Everett by scores of 3-1 and 12-4. In game one, Breonna Chrisman gave up only one unearned run on four hits to pick up the victory. Nicole Rogers provided the offensive punch, with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the second to give the Bulldogs the lead, which they did not relinquish the entire game.

In game two, Danielle Orvella picked up the win and Rogin Hardy came in relief to get the last five outs to secure the victory. Bellevue’s bats came alive in game two as they scored 12 runs on 14 hits. Rogers (2-4, 3 RBI), Nellie Root, (3-5, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI), Tobey Varney (2-4, 2 runs scored), Hardy (2-4, 2 runs scored), Kristen Allen (2-3, 2 RBI) and Breanna Wilson (double, 1 RBI) led the way offensively for the Bulldogs.

On Sunday, May 1, the Bulldogs bats remained hot as they scored 22 runs on 29 hits. Varney led the way with three homeruns and nine RBIs on the day. Adding homeruns were Hardy, Haylee Baker and Emily Squiers. Rachel Tingley and Allen each added four hits on the day as every hitter in the Bulldog lineup had at least one hit. Chrisman threw another great game, picking up the win in game number one, striking out 11 hitters and giving up only three hits en route to the 12-2 victory. In game two, Orvella had a a solid pitching performance, giving up just two runs on five hits, while striking out seven. Hardy came in to get the last three outs, including getting a double play ball to end the game.

The Bulldogs return to BC, with a home doubleheader against Olympic College, Tuesday, May 3, at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs then travel across the border to play Douglas College, a Canadian CC team, on Saturday, May 7.
