Bellevue Softball Takes Two From Everett CC

In their only games in the last week, the Bulldogs squared off Monday against the number two team in the North Region, the Everett Trojans. The Bulldogs winning streak continues as they beat Everett twice by scores of 1-0 and 9-1, and remain unbeaten in North Region play.

Game one was a classic pitcher’s duel as Breonna Chrisman battled it out with the Everett pitcher through seven innings. Each pitcher held the opposing hitters at bay, with the lone run being scored by Bellevue on a solo home run by catcher Nicole Rogers. In the first matchup of these two pitchers, Nicole’s home run proved to be the difference in that game as well. Chrisman threw a great game, scattering just three hits and giving up no runs over the seven innings.

In game two, the Bulldog bats came alive as they scored nine runs on 10 hits, ending the game after six innings due to the run rule. Tobey Varney, Emily Squiers, Rogin Hardy and Breanna Wilson all had doubles in the game, while Hardy and Nellie Root each hit two-run home runs in the game. On the mound, Danielle Orvella kept the Everett hitters off balance, giving up just three hits and surrendering a lone run over the six innings of work.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season this week playing Douglas College in a rain make-up on Friday, May 13, at noon and 2 p.m. at the Skagit Valley Playfields. On Saturday, May 14, the Bulldogs host Skagit Valley at the University of Washington softball field to end the season. Games are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m.
