BC Softball Clinches North Region Title

Weekend sweeps of games against Edmonds CC and Shoreline CC, clinched the North Region title for the Bellevue College softball team for the second year in a row and the sixth time in the eight years under head coach Leah Francis.

On Saturday, May 5, the Bulldogs picked up two wins over Edmonds 20-0 and 19-0. Danielle Jackman picked up the win in game one, while Emilly Cunningham picked up the win in game two. Contributing offensively on the day were Autumn Isaacson (5-9,five stolen bases), Sarah Agerup (6-8), and long balls from Haylee Baker (2), Emilly Cunningham (2) and Larissa Johnson.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs, playing at UW’s Husky Stadium and celebrating the Bellevue sophomores, took on then second-place Shoreline. Bellevue won both by scores of 7-0 and 8-1. Danielle Orvella shut down the Shoreline offensive giving up no runs and striking out nine, while the Bulldogs pounded out 10 hits and seven runs to win the first game of the doubleheader. In game two, Jackman gave up just one run in the first before shutting out Shoreline through the fifth. Cunningham came in to shut the door in the sixth and seventh innings. Offensively, the Bulldogs scored eight runs on 10 hits, including homeruns by Lindsey West, Meagan Ransier and Jessica Tingley.

The Bulldogs host their final regular season game on Friday, May 11, facing Olympic at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., then head south to Portland for the NWAACC Softball Championship Tournament May 18-21.
