The Bulldog softball team swept Everett CC in a North Region doubleheader this past Saturday April 25 at Bellevue’s home park.
In game one the Bulldogs pounded out nine runs on 16 hits en route to a 9-1 win. Leading the way offensively for the ‘dawgs was Larissa Johnson (3-4 with a home run), Miranda Granger (home run, 4 RBI), Lindsey West (2-2, RBI) and Cassidy DeWaele (3-3, game-ending RBI in 6th inning). Brielle Bray picked up the win giving up just one run on two hits.
Game two proved to be much more dramatic. Everett started the scoring in the top of the fourth inning to take an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the same inning, Lauren Burchak tied the game with a solo hom erun. Everett responded in the bottom of the 5th, scoring two runs with two outs to take a 3-1 lead. Bellevue added one in the 6th inning off another solo home run by Burchak. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning, DeWaele hit a leadoff solo home run to tie the game and take it into extra innings. After holding Everett scoreless in the top of the 8th, Burchak connected for her third home run of the game – a solo walkoff shot clearing the left field fence. Bray picked up the win in relief, throwing three shutout innings to finish the game.
The Bulldogs, now 14-0 in North Region play and 26-4 overall, take their game on the road this week, traveling to Edmonds CC on Tuesday April 30, Skagit Valley CC on Friday May 3 (2PM).
