With a pair of wins last week, the BCC Volleyball team pulled to within one game of North Region leader Whatcom, and evened their overall record at 7-7. The week started out with a visit from regional rival Shoreline Community College on September 26. After dropping the first game 24-30, the Bulldogs stormed back to take the final three games from the Dolphins, winning 24-30, 30-24, 30-19, 30-26. Kasey Blevins (FR, Ferris HS) led the Bulldog attack with 19 kills, and freshman setter Sharon Kelley (Kentwood HS) recorded 38 assists.
On September 28 the Bulldogs hosted the Everett Community College Trojans in a bid to move into second place in the Northern Region. Bellevue dominated the match from start to finish, winning easily 30-14, 30-13, 30-9. Sophomore hitter Nicole Ljutic (West Valley HS, Yakima) finished with 10 kills for Bellevue, while freshman middle Marissa Bower (Anacortes HS) recorded 3 blocks to anchor the defense.
This week the Bulldogs will play at Northern Region rival Edmonds Community College on October 3 at 7:00pm, before hosting the Bellevue Community College Crossover tournament October 5-6. A total of 7 NWAACC schools are scheduled to participate in the tournament, including BCC, Umpqua, Mt. Hood, Shoreline, Clark, Yakima Valley, and Wenatchee Valley. The two-day tournament will include five games for Bellevue. On Friday, October 5, the Bulldogs will take on Wenatchee Valley College (4:45pm) and Mt. Hood CC (6:00pm). Saturday will feature three BCC contests, against Clark College (11:45am), Umpqua CC (1:00pm), and Yakima Valley CC (3:30pm).
